THE GATEHOUSE

Conversion of an ugly sixties bungalow into something more attractive. We did the timber work only on this project. The rest of the work being carried out by the client himself, and his chosen workforce for brick work and finishing.

The main walls of the original structure remained. We added an extension at the back, traditionally framed in green oak, and supported the roof structure for the main roof with large oak trusses and purlins. As the main structure of the existing bungalow remains downstairs there's little oak work showing except for floor beams, and the oak in the new extension. Upstairs takes on a different character as the oak trusses, purlins and braces feature in every room.
